At the Equity Capital Markets Awards ceremony, organized by the highly respected business publication Global Capital, VARTA AG took first prize in the category "IPO of the year under US$ 300 million" for its October 2017 IPO.

Numerous banks, institutional investors and other capital-market players voted for their favorites in an online poll at the start of the year. Dr. Michael Pistauer, VARTA AG board member, and Stefan Ries, Director Corporate Finance at Berenberg Bank, accepted the award at the ceremony, held at One Whitehall Place, London, on March 20, 2018.

"I'm truly grateful for this honor, and I'm very pleased that we were able to take a further direct and timely step toward expansion thanks to this IPO," declared Dr. Pistauer on accepting the award.

This award aims to promote excellence on the market by recognizing issuers, investors, investment banks and their consultants. Global Capital is a leading news, opinion and data service serving people and institutions working on the international capital markets.

Joh. Berenberg, Gossler & Co. KG oversaw the IPO as the sole global coordinator, in collaboration with UniCredit Bank AG as the joint bookrunner. As of October 19, 2017, VARTA shares are traded in the Prime Standard market segment of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
