Pardee Homes San Diego has opened its first all-solar master-planned community in Santee, California. Upon completion, the Weston community will include 415 single-family homes across 204 acres and four neighborhoods -- Sandstone and Lake Ridge by Pardee Homes San Diego and Prism and Talus by TRI Pointe Homes Southern California. While Pardee Homes San Diego has offered solar options to buyers in its communities for more than a decade, this is the company’s first master-planned community in which each of the homes in all four neighborhoods will include solar for purchase or lease, increasing energy efficiency and cost savings for homeowners.

Pardee Homes San Diego and TRI Pointe Homes have partnered with San Jose-based SunPower to equip every home at Weston with state-of-the-art, energy-efficient solar panels. SunPower, celebrating its 10-year anniversary of building solar communities with Pardee Homes San Diego, manufactures the components of the systems at Weston with a 25-year warranty. Homes will come with a range of 3- to 5- kilowatt SunPower systems based on their designated plan’s square footage. Annually, these 3- to 5-kilowatt systems generate up to 8,000 kilowatt hours based on home orientation. While the level of savings will be dependent upon a family’s energy usage, it’s been shown that a SunPower system can provide up to 80 percent of a home’s electricity needs. Buyers at Weston have the option to purchase or lease the solar system. A 30% federal tax credit is available to buyers who purchase the systems and are exempt from CA property taxes.
Beyond solar, Pardee Homes and TRI Pointe Homes offer LivingSmartâ, TRI Pointe Group’s signature energy-efficient program, in all homes across the four neighborhoods.
