Hubject Reinvents its Emobility Platform

A new IT system is available to all partners in the Hubject charging network from 22 November. The platform offered by the Berlin-based emobility company connects over 300 automotive companies, energy suppliers and IT companies across 26 countries, laying the foundation for the world's largest cross-provider charging network for electric vehicles - the intercharge network. By refining its platform, Hubject is preparing for a ramp-up in the marketplace as well as for the increasing digital networking of emobility.

Hubject's mission is to enable drivers of electric vehicles to be able to charge their EVs wherever and whenever they like. This will become a reality thanks to the company's open eRoaming platform. The success of electrical drive concepts comes with higher demands on the IT systems of Hubject, which recently announced its plans to expand into China and the USA.

'We have redeveloped our platform from the ground up, so we can meet the demands of the millions of electric vehicles expected on the world's roads in the near future. Our new platform can be scaled much more flexibly thanks to a microservice architecture. This allows us to cater for higher charging volumes without any drop in performance. The integration of new services into the platform is also significantly easier. Consequently, we are in a position to meet the demands of the business models of both today and tomorrow,' explains CEO Christian Hahn in relation to the key improvements to the platform.

The first new value-added services are already available with the rollout of the new platform. With regard to the increasing amount of volatile renewable energy sources, electric vehicles can help to stabilise power grids. Intelligent energy management systems stabilize imbalances in the power grid through a combination of intermediate storage and recovery of energy. This demand for flexibility will also be reflected in the prices of charging current for electric vehicles. The platform will therefore support dynamic price management for charging point operators in the future. This feature allows operators to flexibly set their prices for the charging current provided in accordance with the time of day the and availability of their energy sources. New incentives for customers to use renewable energy can then be offered.

The new platform from Hubject will also soon clear another obstacle standing in the way of the use of charging stations - the varying quality of the geodata provided by the charging point operators. The Hubject system enables the evaluation of charging stations from different operators. Drivers of electric vehicles can thus plan their routes more reliably by identifying and avoiding charging stations with incorrect information.

All functions are supported by a newly designed user-friendly interface, through which users without any specialist knowledge will be able to intuitively use the system on both fixed and mobile devices in the future.
