Tri Global Energy Holds On to Top Spot for Wind Projects in Texas for 11 Consecutive Quarters

Tri Global Energy, a leading U.S. originator and developer of utility-scale wind energy projects, has maintained its first-place position as the leading developer of wind energy projects under construction in Texas, according to the U.S. Wind Industry Third Quarter 2017 Market Report from the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA), the trade association of the U.S. wind energy industry.

Tri Global Energy's Texas wind projects represent 3,464 MW, nearly 67 percent of the MW of all wind power projects being developed in the state. Texas has nearly 5,184 MW of wind projects currently under construction, a 38 percent share of total construction activity in the U.S. A total of 29,634 MW of wind projects, including those in Texas, are now under construction in the U.S., a 27 percent year-over-year increase and one of the highest levels ever reported.

"We have a bold vision for our energy future -- to develop clean energy at an affordable cost through the development of wind projects," said John Billingsley. "People everywhere want more renewable energy, and we plan to deliver it."

"Wind power's rapid growth continues to attract new investment into state economies," said Billingsley. "Every wind project means substantial economic impact to the local host area, including funds from additional tax revenue, landowner royalties and other contributions, such as the creation of local jobs."

Wind accounts for much of the electricity generated from renewable resources in Texas, which easily leads all other states in wind power projects under construction. Globally, Texas is the sixth-biggest producer of wind electricity, following India and just ahead of the UK.

"Wind energy projects -- in addition to Texas' significant investments in transmission infrastructure, solar and fossil resources and a supportive business environment -- contribute to West Texas' ability to lead in all forms of energy generation. Tri Global Energy is to be commended for its leadership in this area," said Congressman Jodey Arrington(R-Texas), who represents District 19 and Crosby County. "A clean, safe, affordable and reliable supply of energy created right here at home is imperative to a safe, strong, and free America for generations to come."
