Austin Electric Vehicles Forms Strategic Partnership With Circuit of the Americas

Austin Electric, a developer of compact, emission-free vehicles for the urban, commercial, and consumer markets, announced the company is partnering with Circuit of The Americas (COTA), America's premier destination for professional motorsports and entertainment. Austin Electric's Metro (http://austinelectric.com/metro), the company's flagship all-electric utility vehicle, has been selected by COTA to provide logistical support for competitions during the 2017 racing season, including the October 20-22 Formula One United States Grand Prix - the only Formula One race in the USA.

Austin Electric delivered the first Metro vehicles to COTA in late August. Event spectators and participants will be able to witness the Metro make its clean-energy fueled contribution to an efficiently run, safe, and enjoyable COTA season, beginning with the Pirelli World Challenge on September 2-3, 2017.

"We are excited about our partnership with Austin Electric, as they are providing COTA with extremely practical and 100 percent electric utility vehicles," said Edgar Farrera, COTA's head of sustainability. "They also help COTA meaningfully advance our sustainability goals. On top of that, everyone is fighting over who gets to use them!"

COTA's adoption of the Metro illustrates the Metro's high-value adaptability and usefulness within a diverse range of environments. Sporting and entertainment organizations, like COTA, have joined leaders from the hospitality, logistics, resort, urban transport, and nonprofit sectors in embracing the Metro as their trusted and dependable provider of clean, efficient, and safe transportation.

"Racing is one of America's favorite and most watched events, and we at Austin Electric are very proud to partner with COTA for the 2017 season," said Tony Saxton, CEO of Austin Electric. "The Metro - the first in a new generation of specialized, clean energy vehicles - is prepared to make an exceptional and important contribution to the racing community."
