Boviet Solar USA Explores Large-scale Solar Energy Production in August Issue of The Current E-zine

In the August issue of The Current, the e-zine by Boviet Solar Technology Co., Ltd., a global leader in the manufacture of high-quality PV technology, Boviet experts discussed opportunities in large-scale solar deployment and strategies to adopt utility-scale production. The e-zine is published as part of an ongoing program to share the latest in clean tech news and insights to move the North American economy forward.

In an article focused on large-scale solar deployment, The Currentdiscussed industry trends over the last decade tracked by the Powerway Group, Boviet's parent company, that are shaping the utility-grade solar market, including:

  • More efficient operating costs;
  • Solar use in markets traditionally reliant on water to run steam turbines;
  • New opportunities for solar site selection and space optimization; and
  • Free market alignment with residential solar that is creating a waterfall effect.

The article reviewed critical steps needed to make large-scale solar deployment a reality.

The August issue of The Current also explored one of the biggest impediments to large-scale solar adoption - solar energy storage. Advances in battery technology coupled with reduced prices are making large-scale solar energy storage both feasible and economical. Navigant Research predicts that by 2020, 29.4 GW of new energy-storage capacity, primarily batteries, will be in place worldwide, with utilities deploying 9,000 MW. Navigant also estimates that energy storage for grid and ancillary services will grow from 1.1 GW in 2016 to 21.6 GW by 2025. As battery technology continues to progress, the installation of new microgrids will provide more clean energy production and commercial-scale battery storage opportunities.

"Boviet is partnering with customers to combine utility-scale solar systems with state-of-the-art energy storage," said John Bereckis, President of the new Modules Division for Boviet Solar USA. "Combining high-output PERC solar modules with battery storage not only reduces dependence on an aging power infrastructure, it creates energy efficiencies that were previously unattainable with just solar power. Our goal is to help our customers lower energy production costs, reduce risk, and increase predictability."

Every month, The Current draws from Boviet's leading solar module design/production insights, and Powerway's decades of manufacturing expertise and customer-centric best practices. The Current is designed to drive solar's narrative forward.
