Natures Frequencies with The Food Freshness Card Achieves Food Logistics' Top Green Provider Award for 2017

Food Logistics, the only publication exclusively dedicated to covering the movement of product through the global food supply chain, has named Natures Frequencies and its International Award-Winning Food Freshness Card to the Top Green Providers list for 2017.   

The Food Freshness Cardâ„¢ is Laboratory and commercially tested to keep food fresher longer.    This is the newest easy to use Innovative Technology in the food industry as it addresses the global problem of food waste and spoilage. The Food Freshness Card has the unique ability to assist with freshness at any point in the food chain; from the farm to packaging, pallet, container, and all the way to distribution and retailer. Even in the home, the Food Freshness Card can extend the shelf life and prolong freshness of many fruits, vegetables and breads. 

As a result of implementation in the food chain, 36 Food Freshness Cards were installed in the commercial kitchen facilities at Bridgewater State University, which are administered by Sodexo. Prior to installation, average spoilage and waste was approximately $500 per month.  During the three month case study, every month recorded $0 spoilage for a three-month saving of approximately $1,500.00 Sodexo's Executive Chef commented, "To date, we have not thrown away any bread or produce, which is simply incredible." 

Food Logistics' annual Top Green Providers recognizes companies whose products, services, or exemplary leadership is enhancing sustainability within the food and beverage industry. Each year, the criteria for earning a spot on the list become more stringent for applicants. For example, the editorial staff evaluates a company's participation in such programs as the EPA's SmartWay and other recognized sustainability programs; facilities that are LEED-certified, and/or feature solar panels, LED lighting and other energy saving installations and retrofits that produce measure reductions in GHG emissions, to name a few.

The Impact the Food Freshness card can have on sustainability and the planet cannot be understated. Worldwide, more than $1 trillion in food is wasted annually. Forty-percent of fresh produce does not make it from the farm to the fork. The energy and resources used to produce that food that is enormous. If the Food Freshness Card can reduce food waste-even by one-percent-the savings in energy and resources would be astronomical. In addition to its successful application in farms, supermarkets, commercial kitchens, shipping containers, walk-in refrigerators, post-harvest and food processing areas, the card works great in a home refrigerator.
