NextEra Energy Named No. 1 in its Industry on Fortune's List of 'Most Admired Companies' for the 10th Time in 11 Years

NextEra Energy, Inc. (NYSE: NEE) announced it has been named No. 1 in the electric and gas utilities industry on Fortune's 2017 list of the "World's Most Admired Companies." This year marked the 10th time in the past 11 years that NextEra Energy, whose principal subsidiaries are Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) and NextEra Energy Resources, LLC, has been voted the top company in its industry in the Fortune ranking. NextEra Energy also was ranked among the top 10 companies worldwide across all industries for innovation, social responsibility and wise use of corporate assets.

In determining the industry rankings, thousands of senior executives, outside directors and industry analysts are independently surveyed and companies are rated on nine attributes: innovation, people management, use of corporate assets, social responsibility, quality of management, financial soundness, long-term investment value, quality of products/services and global competitiveness.

  • Leadership in wind and solar energy â”€ NextEra Energy is the largest generator in the world of renewable energy from the wind and sun. In 2016, NextEra Energy Resources added approximately 2,500 megawatts of new wind and solar projects, which was a record year for the business and what the company believes to be the most wind and solar megawatts ever added in North America in one year by one company. 
  • Outstanding customer value ─ Over the course of 2016, FPL continued to strengthen and deliver a customer value proposition that includes high reliability, award-winning customer service, a clean emissions profile and a typical residential customer bill that is among the lowest in Florida and the nation.
