SPX Cooling Technologies Announces Counterflow Marley DT Evaporative Fluid Cooler

SPX Cooling Technologies, Inc., a full-line, full-service industry leader in the design and manufacture of evaporative and air-cooled heat exchangers, announces the availability of the Marley DT Fluid Cooler, an evaporative fluid cooler flexible enough to meet a range of cooling needs.

The Marley DT Fluid Cooler is an induced-draft counterflow cooler. Its closed-circuit design keeps the process fluid in a clean closed loop. Process fluid is cooled by recirculating water that flows over the outside of heat transfer coils as air induced through the cooler evaporates a small portion of the recirculating water, rejecting heat to the atmosphere.

The cooler offers higher dry operation capacity in cold weather than fill/coil hybrid coolers, delivers lower fan energy costs compared to forced-draft coolers, and reduces system components compared to open tower and plate heat exchanger (PHE) systems. Heavy-duty construction, high-performance design and five-year mechanical warranty ensure consistent cooling over a wide range of flow and temperature requirements and over a long service lifetime.

The DT Fluid Cooler is available in models in a wide range of footprints, from 8.5’x9’ to 12’x 18’ to meet the specific process cooling requirements of each customer. It features robust galvanized steel construction with high-quality mechanical and heat transfer systems. Stainless steel component options, including heat transfer coils and water collection basin, allow customization to address demanding environmental and service life requirements. The Marley Geareducer Drive system delivers low maintenance costs and reliable performance, with a 5-year warranty.

The cooler’s PVC triple-pass inlet louvers control splash-out and sunlight exposure to the collection basin, limiting potential for algae growth, while also offering easy access to the collection basin from all sides. The DT Fluid Cooler also features self-draining spray headers and large 1 7/8” orifice spray nozzles, which help prevent debris build-up and clogging, and limit potential icing.
