The conference featured a Power Play Forum, hosted by The Research Triangle Cleantech Cluster, on Wednesday, February 10. Here, Shaun Caldwell, manager at ScottMadden, led a panel of industry experts discussing renewables integration.

 

This panel discussion covered renewables integration into the grid, supportive technological advances, and the resultant challenges and opportunities that face grid participants going forward.

 

“As the proliferation of renewables increases, renewable and storage resources may need to become dynamic resources, capable of providing ancillary services and responding to signals from grid operators,” said Mr. Caldwell. “In short, renewables can no long just provide power to the grid, but rather they must transition to becoming ‘good citizens on the grid.’”
