Sakari Oksanen, Deputy Director-General of IRENA, to Make Keynote Remarks at GEA's 2016 Showcase

The Geothermal Energy Association (GEA) is pleased to announce that Sakari Oksanen, Deputy Director-General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), will be a Keynote Speaker for the 2016 US & International Geothermal Showcase March 17 at the Ronald Reagan and International Trade Center.
 
IRENA recently launched the Global Geothermal Alliance, a coalition of government and supported groups that is working to achieve a fivefold increase in geothermal electricity production by 2030. 38 member nations initially joined this strategic initiative spearheaded by IRENA. 
 
Sakari Oksanen was elected as the Deputy Director-General on 15 December 2015. Prior to his position at IRENA, Oksanen served as the Director of the Energy unit at Sweco Finland. He has also served as an executive at Pöyry Engineering and has worked in Finland, China, and South East Asia.
