SgurrEnergy Completes Technical Advisor Scope for TRIG Expansion

Leading renewable energy consultancy, SgurrEnergy, has delivered independent technical advice on The Renewables Infrastructure Group’s (TRIG) recent acquisitions, supporting its growing renewable energy portfolio. The team conducted an independent technical report on the 25.3MW Taurbeg wind farm in County Cork, Ireland and technical advice relating to the acquisition of six separate ground-mounted solar PV plants, totaling 94MW, located across southern England.

The work follows SgurrEnergy’s technical review of the 276MW initial portfolio of renewable energy projects, consisting of 14 operational onshore wind farms and four operational solar PV projects, acquired upon TRIG’s IPO.

TRIG is a UK listed infrastructure investment company which invests in mainly operational assets which generate electricity from renewable sources, with a particular focus on onshore wind farms and solar PV parks.  InfraRed Capital Partners is the investment manager and RES is the operations manager.

Richard Crawford, director of infrastructure at InfraRed Capital Partners said: "The team at InfraRed, acting as investment manager to TRIG, is delighted to have completed the acquisition of the Taurbeg wind farm in south-west Ireland from RES, with SgurrEnergy’s valuable input as technical adviser.  This is the 29th project in TRIG’s steadily expanding portfolio of operational renewables assets in onshore wind and solar PV technologies diversified across the UK, Ireland and France."

Senior renewable energy consultant at SgurrEnergy, Simon Barker, said: “It is a privilege to support the ongoing expansion of TRIG, following its IPO as the UK’s largest clean energy investment company.

Alongside the developers and TRIG, our team of experts in our Glasgow, London, Dublin and Paris offices conducted technical reviews, working with all parties to establish a robust base case to support the fund and ensure that the transactions could progress successfully.”

TRIG now has a portfolio of 29 renewable energy investments, ranging in size from 5MW to 48MW across the UK, Ireland and France.
