Chint Power Systems America Partners with Homeless Shelter, Faith Refuge, in Texas for 180 kW Solar PV Test Array

Chint Power Systems America announces an agreement with the non-profit organization, Wichita Falls Faith Mission, Inc., on behalf of its shelter for women and children, Faith Refuge, in Wichita Falls, Texas. The 24,000 sq. ft. homeless shelter that opened in May 2012 is partially powered by about 650 solar panels. Under the agreement, Chint will provide array services to maximize the site operation and energy harvest leveraging its research and development (R&D) and Service center based in Dallas, Texas. Under the agreement, Chint will use the 180kW array for monitoring, evaluating and testing solar inverters, accessories, data monitoring and field services.

Chint Power Systems America opened its R&D center in Dallas, Texas in 2009 to develop string inverters for North America and has since shipped and installed thousands of inverters locally. In layman’s terms, inverters are necessary to feed the solar power into the electrical grid system converting it to useable power.

Ensuring that products are continually improved and that they perform over the long term in the field is a critical focus. This arrangement provides a platform for Chint to routinely observe, monitor and tune the inverters in the array.  Also, new products can be installed and evaluated in a field environment. This field testing complements thorough lab based testing and agency safety certifications. The partnership between Chint and Wichita Falls Faith Mission, Inc. for Faith Refuge adds another field testing environment to the portfolio of field test sites already in place in the USA and Asia.
