Matt Cheney, Solar Industry Leader, New Executive Chairman of enACT Systems

Matt Cheney has joined the solar software sales platform enACT Systems as Executive Chairman and Board Member. With over 25 years of solar experience, Cheney is most well known as the former Founder and CEO of MMA Renewable Ventures, the first US-based Solar Independent Power Producer (IPP). There he led the development, ownership, and operation of a multi-billion dollar portfolio of distributed-scale solar, wind, biomass, and energy efficiency project investments.

In addition to chairing the board at enACT, Cheney serves on the board of ACORE (American Council on Renewable Energy) and SEPA (Solar Electric Power Association). Cheney’s role with enACT complements his position as Founder/CEO of CleanPath Ventures LLC, a mezzanine renewable energy project development and finance platform formed in 2011.

“With over a decade developing distributed renewable energy projects, I've always regretted that lack of tools and solutions that could help scale a business faster, closing more deals, while reducing transaction costs in the process,” said Cheney. My commitment to enACT rests in the software’s ability to solve a huge need for the fast-growing, global distributed-energy marketplace, as well as the team’s expertise to deliver an exceptional software and service.”

enACT Systems is an online and mobile software solution that accelerates the sales process and workflow automation for solar energy and energy efficiency professionals. The platform increases deal flow and reduces transaction costs for installation, financing and distribution companies by leveraging its patent-pending approach for channel convergence and data analytics. Unlike other solutions in the market, enACT is the only platform to allow users to compare real financing options with customers in sales conversations for a range of products, that can also be accessed by multiple stakeholders like utilities, distributors and OEMs. Early users of enACT experience an ROI on the software within a few months.

“We are proud to have such a solar industry veteran on our team. As ENACT expands its product offering for the energy financing sector, Matt’s wealth of global experience in this growing segment is a huge asset for our growing company,” said Deep Chakraborty, Co-founder and CEO at enACT.

Matt Cheney has over twenty-five years’ experience in the fields of civil engineering, energy, and environment, including positions with the USAID in South America (US Agency for International Development), the National Rural Electric Co-op Association’s International Programs, the US Department of Energy, and the Utility PhotoVoltaic Group, now the Solar Electric Power Association. Mr. Cheney earned a BS degree from The American University and a Master degree from Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies, both in Washington D.C.
